Warren Averett Staffing & Recruiting is seeking an experience EHS Manager for a client in Chicago, IL.  The qualified candidate will have at least 5 years of related experience.


  • The Terminal Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Manager supervises a department of EH&S professionals and is responsible for environmental permitting for the work sponsored by EH&S and work performed by Operations and Project Management.
  • The position oversees the maintenance and/or calibration of environmental equipment and/or processes and reviews documentation and reports to verify quality and overall compliance.
  • Responsible for minor and large construction and O&M project permitting, including estimating time for completion and costs to complete.
  • Participates in incident investigations and emergency response activities when warranted.
  • Evaluates and implements design criteria, performance, or other environmental standards.
  • Manages environmental consultants and contractors providing support to construction, O&M projects, and field operations.
  • Acts as an environmental advisor on projects and other business unit related issues in order to maintain EH&S standards.
  • Verifies EHS compliance standards are met or exceeded on engineering, construction, remediation and operations activities.
  • Manages certain financial controls and provides associated accounting and business unit guidance relating to environmental matters and valuation of company compliance and liabilities.
  • Assist business unit with evaluation of environmental compliance and liabilities for prospective company purchases during due diligence efforts.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Physical Sciences, Industrial Hygiene/Safety Management or related Natural Sciences
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of related EHS experience is required for consideration.
  • Proven leadership skills. In addition to this position being responsible for the environmental compliance of the terminal, it is also responsible for managing a group of EH&S professionals providing support in other functional areas
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills, people skills, and an ability to work under pressure within deadlines as required
  • Working knowledge of the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and state environmental regulations and the ability to interact with regulatory agencies and peers with self-confidence, poise, and professionalism is imperative
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures that are protective of the environment, personnel, equipment and client's business interests
