Warren Averett Staffing and Recruiting is seeking and experienced accounting professional for an established property management company in Birmingham, AL. The ideal candidate will have more than 10 years of experience in the real estate industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the the Accounting Function.  Including:
    • Participate in the budgeting process
    • Management of the accounting staff of 3
    • Review monthly reporting packages for accuracy and completeness 
    • Review bank reconciliations and manage bank accounts
    • Maintenance and accounting for payroll
    • Oversight of the general ledger and charge of accounts
  • Maintain an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results
    • Responsible for cash management and risk management for multiple entities
    • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
    • Provide financial analyses, monthly, to ensure all obligations are accounted for
  • Coordinate with external CPA group for compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Define and document processes and procedures to promote uniform reporting
  • Perform additional research and special projects as needed

Requirements

  • BS in Accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • 10 + years of  accounting experience in the property management industry
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Suite with exposure to multiple General Ledger packages (Timberline or Yardi would be beneficial)
  • Candidates must be hands on, independent problem solvers who can manage the financial status and day to day operations of the business
