Warren Averett Staffing and Recruiting is seeking an ambitious accounting professional to join an established company in Birmingham, AL. A successful candidate will have more than 3 years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Construction industry accounting knowledge (or ability to attain quickly) and interest that includes:
  • Understanding of general ledger accounting
  • Understanding of percentage of completion accounting with job cost projections
  • Understanding of cash revenue recognition accounting
  • Understanding of payroll and payroll tax accounting
  • Understanding of GAAP
  • Help with budget preparation annually
  • General knowledge of accounting software
  • Manage Human Resources responsibilities

Duties Include:

  • Oversight and assistance with accounts payable
  • Oversight and assistance with accounts receivable
  • Oversight and assistance with payroll taxes 
  • Oversight and assistance with monthly sales and use tax payments and returns
  • Assistance with monthly and annual financial statements

Additional Occasional Duties:

  • Assist Project Managers with job cost projections and forecasting for future periods
  • Assist Project Managers with job billings
  • Additional office duties to ensure day to day operations run smoothly

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related business major
  • Minimum of 3 years of Job Cost Accounting experience
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and be self-motivated
  • Be able to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to provide guidance and direction to department staff who are not direct reports
  • Ability to take ownership of processes and seek more efficient methods
